Rx Questions? Just Ask Your Pharmacist

Valuable Healthcare Resource is Ready to Help

Nearly two-thirds of patients agree individual pharmacists influence what pharmacy they choose to have their prescription filled at, but less than one-third consult with them regarding healthcare issues.* Your pharmacist is indeed a valuable resource to ask about your medication and related issues (or concerns).

Our knowledgeable pharmacists have the answers you’re looking for — just ask them. To learn more, watch this short video about medication and prescription questions.

During your next refill, don’t miss an opportunity to connect with an expert who’d be happy to answer your questions. Not sure what to ask? Here are several conversation starters:

  1. General medication info. Your pharmacist can explain to you what your prescription is used to treat, how it works, storage, interactions with other medications, how to take it and when to take it.

  1. Possible side-effects. Medication side-effects range from none or mild to severe; be sure to check with your pharmacist about what to expect and how to manage them.

  1. Medication adherence. Taking your medication as prescribed — correct dosage, frequency and time — is important. Speak with your pharmacist if you miss a dose or don’t know when to  take the next one.

  1. Specialty medications. Some specialty medications are taken by injection or infusion. Ask your pharmacist if yours do and if you need training to administer (or to schedule an infusion visit).

  1. Over-the-counter (OTC). Some common OTC medications could interfere with your existing prescriptions. Talk with your pharmacist if you are taking any and which ones are safe for you.
