Compliance and Ethics Week, celebrated worldwide November 6-12, 2022, shines a spotlight on the importance of compliance and ethics for organizations across the globe. At AllianceRx Walgreens Pharmacy, complying with all relevant laws, rules, policies and procedures helps ensures we are conducting ourselves at the highest level of integrity as expected by our patients. Awareness, recognition and reinforcement of a company’s compliance with legal and regulatory requirements demonstrates successful compliance which better enables our business.
Understanding the Terms
Before we can understand why compliance and ethics are important, we must understand what they mean. Compliance is following applicable laws, regulations and relevant policies. Ethics involves making decisions consistent with our core values and supportive of the company’s reputation.
Examples of non-compliant and/or unethical activities include:
• Accounting irregularities or false financial reporting
• Harassment or discrimination
• Conflict of interest
• Improper use of company information
• Improper handling, storage and disposal of drugs and hazardous waste
• Inaccurate third-party billing
• Theft or fraud
