Today marks the beginning of Compliance and Ethics Week, a worldwide celebration of awareness, recognition and reinforcement held Nov. 7-13. A strong, ethical culture is vital to the success of any organization. At AllianceRx Walgreens Pharmacy, complying with internal policies and procedures is very important to us. It helps ensure we’re conducting ourselves in compliance with legal requirements and with the highest level of integrity.
Various research studies on the topic of consumer privacy, shared by Forbes.com, revealed some interesting findings:
• 88% of consumers say the extent of their willingness to share personal information is based on how much they trust a company.
• 73% of consumers say trust in companies matters more now than it did a year ago.
• And, 77% of consumers expressed a desire for increased awareness of corporate values, ethics, and business practices.

Understanding the Terms
Before we can understand why compliance and ethics are important, we must understand what they mean. Compliance is following applicable laws, regulations and relevant policies. Ethics involves making decisions consistent with our core values and supportive of the company’s reputation.
